Formalin, also known as Formaldehyde Solution 37–40%, is a clear, colorless, and pungent-smelling liquid widely used in industrial, laboratory, agricultural, and medical applications. This solution typically contains 37–40% formaldehyde gas dissolved in water, often with 6–15% methanol added as a stabilizer.

Formalin is highly effective as a preservative, disinfectant, tissue fixative, and industrial intermediate. Due to its reactive nature, it is also used in resin production, textile processing, and chemical synthesis.
